The Agrirama offersTeacher-Guided Tours for students of any age. Upon arrival, group leaders are given site maps with descriptions of each stop on the tour. The tour requires about two hours. Group rates are $4.00 per student with a minimum of 20 students. One adult is admitted free for every 15 students; additional adults are admitted at $7.00 per person.  *FEES FOR TOURS INCLUDE THE TRAIN RIDE.

The Schoolhouse Workshop: Students from kindergarten to college go to school for a day in an 1890’s one-room schoolhouse. They will experience grade appropriate activities such as reading from the McGuffey Reader, solving math problems on a slate, practicing penmanship, and playing popular period games, like drop the handkerchief, during outdoor recess. This workshop requires a morning or afternoon period of about two hours. The cost is $8.00 per student and the workshop can accommodate 20 to 30 students. Two adults are admitted free; admission is $7.00 each for other adults. Teachers are required to costume and assist with the workshop.  *FEES FOR THE SCHOOLHOUSE WORKSHOP INCLUDE THE TRAIN RIDE.


The Living History Workshop:Students from fifth grade through college work on the farm, in the homes, and in the town of an 1890’s community. Among the activities are plowing; caring for livestock; working in the gristmill, print shop, blacksmith shop, variety works; performing household chores and cooking their noon meal on a wood-burning stove or open hearth. This workshop also requires about two hours. The cost is $11.00 per student and the workshop can accommodate 20 to 30 students. Two adults are admitted free; admission is $7.00 each for other adults. Adults do not eat with the students and are free to enjoy touring the Agrirama.  *FEES FOR THE LIVING HISTORY WORKSHOP INCLUDE THE TRAIN RIDE.

The Heritage Workshop:Students from fifth grade through college participate in this combination of the Schoolhouse and Living History Workshops. The cost is $13.00 per student and the workshop can accommodate 40 to 60 students. Four adults are admitted free; admission is $7.00 each for other adults. Adults do not eat with the students and are free to enjoy touring the Agrirama.  *FEES FOR THE HERITAGE WORKSHOP INCLUDE THE TRAIN RIDE.

A Visit to the Past :  This interactive program is designed for grades one through eight. It provides age-appropriate activities for a 90 minute period and can be combined with a teacher-guided tour, country store shopping spree, and picnic lunch (bring your own or purchase our sack lunches at $4.00 each).  The fee is $7.00 per student wiht two (2) free adult admissions and additional adults $7.00 each. *FEES FOR THE VISIT TO THE PAST WORKSHOP INCLUDE THE TRAIN RIDE.
 TEACHERS, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Please allow adequate time in order for students to receive the full benefits of these programs.  NOTE:  Admisson is tax free with the presentation of a Georgia Tax Exemption ID.  All other charges are subject to Georgia Sales Tax.  All out of state visitors are subject to Georgia Sales Tax.  If you bring fewer than the stated minimum number of students, the base fees are $160.00 for a Schoolhouse Workshop, $220.00 for a Living History Workshop, $390.00 for a Heritage Workshop, $140.00 for a Visit to the Past.

All workshops are conducted with students in period costume (except for A Visit to the Past) reenacting life in the late nineteenth century. Therefore, it is important that you encourage your students to observe the following suggestions for dress for safety reasons or to avoid detracting from the authenticity of the museum site:

  • Girls should wear long-sleeved blouses (preferably white) and jeans. Skirts and aprons are provided. NO SHORTS, please!
  • Boys should wear long-sleeved cotton shirts and jeans or overalls. Suspenders are provided. NO SHORTS, please! Shoes and socks should be dark in color. NO SANDALS, please!
  • Coats or sweaters, if necessary, should be solid, dark colors. NO TEE SHIRTS OR SWEAT SHIRTS, please!
  • Please avoid garments with designs or writing on them. No hats or caps are allowed on the museum site. Come without jewelry and keep make-up simple; no bright lipstick, nail polish or eye makeup.

  • Name Tags are required and should include student's name, group leader's name (if applicable) and teacher's name. Making name tags could be a pre-visit activity.
    Students may also tour the site, ride the steam-powered train , and shop in the Country Store. When the workshop does not provide lunch, the Agrirama can provide pre-ordered sack lunches (for $4.00 each) or students may bring their own and enjoy the outdoor picnic area.

    All workshops reflect State of Georgia mandated Quality Core Curriculum objectives in the areas of Social Studies and Language Arts. 

    Upon arrival the group leader must check in at the Country Store and pay student admission fees, all parent fees, and all pre-ordered lunches. Changes in number or cancellation of pre-ordered lunches must be made ten (10) days prior to the date of the visit. Payment may be by check, credit card, or cash (NO coins, please). No refund checks for less than $10.00 will be issued. Bus drivers receive complimentary admission.
