A VISIT TO THE PAST


Grades 1-2:  Students are divided into three groups.  Each will visit three different
stations for activities focusing on the life of a young child in the 1890’s.  Students
will enjoy a wagon ride to the farm, a nature walk and participatein household 
chores and play games of the period.

Grades 3-4:  Students are divided into four groups.  Each group participates in two
activities centered around  the home, farm and industry, the doctor's  office and
commercial sites, and the nature walk. Activities might include building birdhouses, 
tending the flower and herb gardens and sewing quilt squares.

Grades 5-8:  Students are divided into four groups with each group participating in two
activities centered around the home, the farm and industry, the doctor’s office and
commercial sites and the nature walk.  Activities may include making biscuits and
baking them on the hearth, building birdhouses, tending the farm animals, and learning
how some herbs were used for cooking and others for medicinal purposes.

Group size: 20 to 30 students  Costuming not recommended due to time restraints.
Age: 1st through 8th grade  Program meets QCC objectives. Cost: $7.00 per student 
It can be combined with a teacher-guided tour, country store shopping spree and 
train ride.  Two adults admitted free, additional adults $7.00 each.
Bring your own picnic lunch or purchase our sack lunches ($4.00 per person).
